Florida Blue Crays - Babies Again!

I knew my female was prolly berried again.  I checked my on my tanks before leaving for work and I found a whole bunch of the little critters all over the tank.  Last time I had around 200 babies...should be about the same this time too.  I didn't have time to do anything be say "Cool" and then leave for work.

Wow that is neat.  I just got one the other day and I love them.  Not sure if it is male or female though.  Are they hard to breed?

I have about 7 and I have seen mine breeding a few times but they have never had any babies.  Anyone, had a similar experience?  Also, don't you have to separate the babies at some point or they will eat each other?

Not hard to breed.  Female can get pretty messed up during the process though.

I have about 7 and I have seen mine breeding a few times but they have never had any babies.  Anyone, had a similar experience?  Also, don't you have to separate the babies at some point or they will eat each other?

Do you have room to seperate around 200 small crays?  

Best you can do as they get bigger is provide a tank or pond for them to grow out.  You "will" lose some do to attrition.

I do the best I can with what I got available.

Checked on them just now and the tank is infested...Haha.  It prolly want be till the weekend till I move them around.   This weekend is dedicated to tank maint. and moving fish around and inventoring what I have extra to get rid of... :)

I was surprised to still see more babies under her tail.  There are a couple houndred throughout the tank and it seems like 3-4 houndred or more under her tail.  

It was a sight to see.

hey could my water turn over rate be too much in my tank for the cray to hold on to her spawn or something?  i still cant get some from mine,  congrats on being a grandpa again. lol

Not sure about the flow rate.  Mine only have sponge filters.

hey could my water turn over rate be too much in my tank for the cray to hold on to her spawn or something?  i still cant get some from mine,  congrats on being a grandpa again. lol

I would think that as long as she has a cave/hiding area away from the current, that she'd be able to hang on to her babies just fine.  Maybe just redirecting the flow will make a difference.
