Some assorted guppy males (culls) and some platties. Everyone is doing good, no fatalities as of yet. Have a bunch of livebearing trapdoor snails in there keeping any on-coming algae in check. Still pondering on the "actual" inhabitants of the pond....but I will be looking into what I can get at the auction!

Thanks! My back is killing me, and it needs more plants both inside and out...But I am happy with it, not bad for a weeks worth of work out of a redneck!

Wow, it looks GREAT!! You're awesome. I'm very impressed.

If you have anymore of that slate stuff, have you considered adding another layer on top to cover the lip of the ponds? Might look more natural that way...

But really, WOW. I wish you lived closer so we could all see it in person!

ROAD TRIP! I wish we could have a meeting out here. I think yall would love a pasture party!

Tried the rock on top of the lip...looks cluttered to me. And it will only work for the bottom pond, not the middle or top, so it ends up looking kind of "out of place". Thanks for the compliments about the pond...it was a lot of work done, in a short enough amount of time. I have more slate/flagstone, and a bunch of other petrified wood, even some natural holey rock(unbleached) left to decorate with, just got to find a place for it all. Think I got like 300lbs of each kind yet to place.

Is there a reason that we can't?

Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

No....Just didn't figure a lot of people would be willing to drive out to the boondocks for a fish meeting...lol :) But if it would be something to be thought about in the future, I could ask hubby about it :)

I think a pasture party sounds great. Can we bring the tents? Sounds like it would be awesome after the weather cools off some, maybe early nov.?

Both my kids are boys, so thats a lost cause there. Brutis is our registered Black Brangus Bull. He can be rather friendly, which leads to head butting and stepped on toes. Lets just say 2000 lbs doesn't feel good on toes, and the friendly head butting can leave some real good bruises. Oh, and look out for my milk cows...they think anything with two legs should have food for them, and may try to climb in the tent after it.

Well, I wish ya'll could see how many frogs I have that are making my pond thier home. I counted the ones that I could see, or that jumped away when I fed this morning. I counted over twenty leopard frogs, four lilly jumpers, and two toads....I think they like it!

                                Hi lilmissruff country....

My name is AL and i was reading the progress through the last 6 pages. I have to say...wow... that is a lot of work.

It looks amazing.... I am planning on surprising my wife with a koi pond (above ground), this next monday the 28th of june, I am building this custom patio, nothing big just 10x12 and eventually a gazebo or some sort of covered patio type deal and the koi pond she has been wishing for 10 years or so.

Well...since you have some experience in this can you suggest and websites or places that may help me decide on a raised koi pond. I am actively researching online and sunrise(HFB member) had suggested a tractor supply place and someother place.

I also want to say...All the effort, time and money that went in your project, it looks great and i am sure it is very....extremely relaxing just sitting around there.

Ponds like the one you put together and all these aquariums we (fishheads) own are soooo relaxing and I have also heard this from several people and sources that it brings BLOOD PRESSURE down and relieves stress. I think it is true.

Thanks for all this info and hope to meet some of you soon. I missed the auction..work...sorry...
