My name is AL and i was reading the progress through the last 6 pages. I have to say...wow... that is a lot of work.

It looks amazing.... I am planning on surprising my wife with a koi pond (above ground), this next monday the 28th of june, I am building this custom patio, nothing big just 10x12 and eventually a gazebo or some sort of covered patio type deal and the koi pond she has been wishing for 10 years or so.

Well...since you have some experience in this can you suggest and websites or places that may help me decide on a raised koi pond. I am actively researching online and sunrise(HFB member) had suggested a tractor supply place and someother place.

I also want to say...All the effort, time and money that went in your project, it looks great and i am sure it is very....extremely relaxing just sitting around there.

Ponds like the one you put together and all these aquariums we (fishheads) own are soooo relaxing and I have also heard this from several people and sources that it brings BLOOD PRESSURE down and relieves stress. I think it is true.

Thanks for all this info and hope to meet some of you soon. I missed the auction..work...sorry...

As far as sites...didn't go looking much, didn't have to. The people here led me to a few sites for ideas, the rest was all done as I went. Although I will say of you are building it above ground, one of those Rubbermaid 300 gallon water troughs works really well for a fish pond. Its plenty deep, has a shape that could easily be built around as far as a deck/patio and gazebo. They are tough tubs, and fairly heavy, I use a few rubbermaid troughs just as grow out tanks for some of my fish.

Main thing, if you are going to do it, make a thread about it, and ask for help and ideas in the thread...you will get PLENTY. OH and get ahold of John...he is the DIY guru here, if he can't help ya on do it your self, you might be in over your head...lol. He helped me alot, so did Beth, and Tim...and.....good grief, if I keep it up I will be typing all day about all those that helped!

Thanks! It was a lot of work, and the frogs and now toads are quite fond of it. My son and I sat and watched a big toad sit and croak last night...was funny seeing how big his throat got, and how loud he really was.

        Thanks so much,
