Put pond netting over the pond in the air if possible. you can try hanging statues of predatory birds. Stringing fish line over the pond (Making a net out of it sort of. Make the pond too deep for the bird to feel comfortable in. Line the pond with flat rock that over hang it by 6 inches or more might help though I've heard that suggested for raccoons.

Unfortunately it is very hard to chase off a blue heron who has found an easy dining spot.

Those work great for deer and varmint, I bet they would work well for birds.

i have heard of people using the sprinklers for heron, theres one that looks like an owl too. i dont know why an owl would shoot water out of its mouth at its prey but i guess if i saw a lion running at me i wouldnt stop to ask about why it was wearing fuzzy dice around its neck

i have a fake owl set up in my back yard... the freakin dove actually land on top of it and sit there. the sprinkler thing seems to be the best bet unless you have an outside dog that would chase the birds away

I like the sprinkler idea. I've got something eating my muskmellons and that sounds like it would work well.

Btw, its a felony to get caught shooting a heron.
