Anyone have a reference for the newer ( about 15 years old) passive pond filtering technique ? One uses a bog of coarse gravel ( such as lava rock) equal to about 1/3 of the pond volume. Then put a well ( big plastic pipe ) in the far end of the bog and pump water out to the pond ,pulling water through the gravel. The gravel is a bio filter that lasts "forever". I accidentally did this but my bog is not big enough and after 15+ years is plugging up. I was intending just to build a bog. I have about a 200 "gallon" bog for a 900 gallon pond. When I look on the web all I find is adds for regular filters.
