Re: Thinking about a container pond

This is what I know about the tubs: I saw those tubs being used to hold live rock at a local fish store. If I remember right the guy has like 4 of them in the store. Two have live rock and two are his refugium. Also at another lfs in the back they keep live rock in two smaller tubs just like that. Good luck on your new project and don't forget to post some pictures when you are done.

I've got a pre-form pond, about 125 gallons, 2 small water fall pieces, an oversized external canister type filter with UV (needs new bulb) and some koi and large comet gold fish.  Anyone interested?

things I wish to change on my stock tank 1-put a valve on bulk head for easy water changes. or put a stand pipe on bulk head inside tank and have a planted bog below tank and maybe not do any water changes at all.

Re: Thinking about a container pond

hey fshfrk, I have this same concept on my pond outside. Basically it is a huge container pond filtered by a simple filter and it works great. The fish somehow looks better and color better in the sunlight.

I didn't know other companies do beer thirty .. I've only heard of it from one other company that my friend used to work for

            thanks for the info guys!

I think the deal on the stock tank might've disapeared... The seller isnt emailing me back x_X

I'm still planning on doing this... Just gotta bide my time and keep an eye out for another one... or suck it up and buy a new one.

Re: Thinking about a container pond

Well I had a friends pickup truck  to buy a washer and dryer  and figured I'd go ahead and buy one while I had a way to get it home easily.

so Now I've got the big stock tank and I need to start figuring out filtration.

What pumps do you guys reccomend.... and how many times an hour do I need to recirculate the water?

I was thinking like 500 gallons/hr and use a homemade filter out of pot scrubbers, similar to what fshfrk has setup.
