I am needing pond lillies, plants, and fish to put into the new pond that I made this week. I am really looking for small koi but will look at what is offered. I was also told that I could put a algae eater in there to.

I am also interested if you are supposed to let the pond cycle and if so, for how long? I know that I did for my saltwater and freshwater tanks.

Thank you. It took about 2 weeks and I thought the digging would never be over. I have two pumps and a filter on it. I love just sitting on the patio and listening to the waterfall. It is 12' X 8'. Now I am wating to add some colorful plants and fish to it.

great pond.

I conditioned water in my pond and added a product to help establish filter as I needed [wanted] to stock w/ Koi I had in another pond.     no self control after so much work      

have  5 -7" Koi  that may work  for you.   will send you pictures.

looks like a nice pond!

for cycling it if you have freshwater tanks you can use some old filter pieces from them to get the cycle started, just start with a low bio load and increase it slowly.  and you really shouldnt have much of a cycle at all.  It uses the same bacteria as your freshwater tanks.

as for stocking it, you can put in pretty much any cold water fish. Just research on how they handle winter time cold temperatures and  be prepared to care for them if they dont handle the winter well.  
Its even warm enough to keep tropicals in the pond a lot of the year... just make sure you have a place to keep them in the winter.

Cool looking pound, my dogs would love it!

The water lillies I have are day bloomers in light blue, light pink and dark pink.

I will try and round up some tank raised silver/white plus orange mollies that will show up nicely in the outside pounds and are hardy here in most winters.  But if you have herons or egrets these colors will be the first ones eaten.  later, ken

Thank you! I already have a HFB member giving me two water lillies and some plants for the walkway. Now I just need some pond fish and a couple of turtles. I love sitting outside at night and listening to the waterfall. Even my next door neighbor loves it. It used to have a frog that would croaked loudly at night but i got rid of it because I wss scared the neighbors would complain. Now the next door neighbor is mad because she loves frogs and she said she would lay in bed and listen to the croaking. Now I also have to find a couple of frogs!
