    Re: Michael's Pond Diary

I like the day time pictures.

I was wondering how much hours of good shade do you get during the day time?

I have a little pond (which I'm thinking about redoing to make bigger) and it gets a lot of sun light during the day. So I have to fight algae all the time.

I did plant a big tree in the middle of my yard and it's helped out a little this summer.
I ate my fish that died.

Flagfish are decent algae eaters and are native and can over-winter in the pond down in this area.

                  Re: Michael's Pond Diary

I got some bad news people... I went out to feed and two of my fish were floating and two are just missing. The only hing in my back yard is my dog and squirrwls. The fish are too big for the squrrels and my dog usually acts guilty when he does something wrong. There were no bites in the fish that I found. The dog has been known to eat the fish food and drink the water but when he chases a ball or is after something... he barks out of excitement. Plus, everytime he has been in the pond, my water lily was knocked over. Unless he has mastered not knocking everything over... he is not the culprit! Any ideas?

                        Re: Michael's Pond Diary

                        Thats a major bummer man!

Some birds can catch and take fish.

Did you check your water parameters... poor water quality can contribute to jumping, maybe 2 jumped out and got eaten by the dog and 2 died from bad water?

not saying you dont take care of your pond... just throwing out ideas on what could've happened

also the turtles if you still have them could be a factor.
