"Bait" is not that specific of a word either; some friends refer to sushi as "bait".
Oh, contrare; I have a small gain on the purchased fish in the pond. I also use them to stock a few charity tanks .Live bearers and zebras reproduce vigorusly in a (my) pond; catching and selling some each autumn provides cash if you need more in the spring.
I started with red swordtails for visablity but after a few years they revert back to green.

There was an article in a magazine a few years back about throwing killies outside during the summer to create a population explosion. It was called, like, "Hot Tub Killies" or something. Can't remember. But yes, some fish can do really well outside."Millennium hand and shrimp!"
