so do they climb out of the tank everynite, scare your cats then go back in before morning hits?

Well, one of the Asian climbing perch did crawl out of the tank, got under the aquarium stand and was rattling around once. I thought the noise was the filter impeller. It was the fish bouncing around UNDER the tank. I put him back in the tank and he was fine. They use their spiny gill covers to crawl, not their pectoral fins.
