I haven't heard of any places that sell really good quality here in Houston. There are some breeders here though, like phishphreek. I hear a lot of people get theirs from aquabid. sorry I couldn't be of more help.

There's a seller on Aquabid by the name of BTS that is in Dayton.  He'd probably let you pick up or meet you in Dayton.  Really nice person to deal with.

yea i tried aquabid but wasnt really sure how the shipping works ... those that needed to be shipped from thailand r really nice but having to deal with the transhippers meaning we pay shipping twice ? ... i haven't feel like doing that ...

there is a guy in the medical center i believe that will let you meet up at herman park on aquabid.

or check out megan's tropical emporium, the betta shows are held at her place so im sure she can direct you in the right path

petco has nice ones for $3.49 each, any color you want, mainly red/pink or blue, petsmart had poor looking small ones.

i forget the name but look through the plakats cause thats where i found him.

city pets usually carries crowntails, monster plakats and double tails

I've bought a Betta on Aquabid before and had no problems with shipping.

Megan's sells some nice Bettas.  They use a local breeder and they are definitely better than your run of the mill fish store Bettas.  Even their regular $5.00 Bettas are nice but the last time I was there they even had a few on the checkout counter that were nicer and a little more expensive.

and there is NICE!

you can get nice pets at Nans or Village or a few others when local breederes thin out their stock.

but if you want show quality NICE, you need to go to one of the Bettahabari auctions
