Girls are Fighting

Went and fed the 20 a few minutes ago and noticed that all my girls have shredded tails. I'm assuming they had a brawl today. Should I leave them and just keep the water clean or move them to QT and treat with salt? Remember, Cutie Pie pleco is in there so I can't do anything that's going to burn her little precious skin. Darn Women!

You can leave in and keep the water clean. No reason to QT and treat with salt unless they show signs of rot.

They are resetting the pecking order. in the new tank.

agreed...its just everyone adjusting most likely and establishing the hierarchy. i wouldnt treat with meds for the fins unless there are clear signs of an infection. no need to cause avoidable stress.

Thank you gentlemen. They seem to be on the mend, I'm surprised how fast fins are growing back. Worst pillow fight I've ever seen.
They really are like a bunch of grumpy cichlids. LOL Love'em to pieces though and so glad that I have them.

No, no meds, just cleaned the tank. One of them barely has any tail fin left but so far they are healing very well and eating like pigs. Emily literally jumps out of the water when I open the lid. I know she's going to wind up on the floor some day.

Yep betta is known for being a Houdini. I lost some of them that way thru a tiny hole in the roof.

Well, my little Katie that I bought as my first baby girl turned out to be a big typical mean boy that killed 2 of the girls one day while I was at work. I'm still sick that he killed my beautiful Rose! So "The Terminator" lives alone now and I swear he builds the largest bubble nests that I've ever seen, and he keeps getting bigger and bigger! Little Emily dances and zips back and forth very happily in the 20gal. I don't think I'll buy any more babies unless I intend on putting it alone from the beginning.

I keep debating on whether I want to try and add some "for sure" girls in with Emily though. Now that's she's been the only betta in the tank for awhile I'm not so sure how adding more females might go over with her. I loved it when I had more than one girl.
