Yep, my flax & picta were jumpers too.
I scrounged a replacement rear flap for the glass cover and cut it to closely fit the 2 HOBs.
So unless they can swim up the outflow, I'll be OK

I read somewhere that the bigest cause of bettas jumping out of the jars/tank was that when the light was turned on, it startled them.
I now keep a 60w incandescent "night light" on in my fishroom, so they are never in complete darkness.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

        Re: BETTA MACROSTOMA

Been doing a lot of research on Breeding MACs and thought I would share....

The betta macrostoma has one of the most unique breeding rituals in the betta world.   The male and female will embrace near the water surface and the female will released eggs into the male's anal fin. The male will be in a side-ways position, with his anal fin curveing up like a spoon to hold the eggs.   The eggs get fertilized by contact with the male's anal fin.   The male will hold this position for a few seconds so the female can gather the eggs into her mouth.   Then the male will find the female and she will spit the eggs into his mouth.  During the first few days of brooding, while the male is vulnerable, the female will protect him.

          That is very interesting.
Fish are people too, they just have gills.

Getting  :bsofftopic: so I'm going to move my answers

I lost one of my MACs - must have found a hole and escaped but I never found it.
The other 3 are only about 2.5" still can't sex them.
life span is 12 years so I doubt they mature as fast as splendens
they eat frozen brine shrimp, love live black worms, and ignore the small guppies in the tant untill I forget to feed them.
