  • Sick Mollie?

    Hi all, I have a mollie who is usually very active, just sitting on the bottom of the tank. This is the second day now. When it's feeding time, it'll swim up and eat, but when I walk back by later it's back on the bottom just sitting there. I'm very new to all this, so any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

      Temp seems to be around 76 right now. Tank mates are neon tetras for the time being, and I did a 1/4 water change earlier this afternoon. Oh, and my girlfriend has an african dwarf frog in the tank as well.

        Is she bloated?
        Fish are people too, they just have gills.

          Well, I'm not for certain if "she" is a she, I'm thinking He, but could be wrong, reguardless, the fish is not bloated. From the research I did I'd say it's a male fish. The females look alittle bloated, but they are swimming around fine.

            MOLLY = PLAGUE RAT
            'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
            He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

              I also have heard that. These fish were a "suprise" gift from my girlfriend, and are also walmart fish. I'm actually suprised they've lived as long as they have. But they eat like pigs and seem to be happy until this one.

                  No white spots or any discoloration that I can tell. When I fed them earlier, he was up and active, but afterwards back to the bottom.

                      Well when I got home from work this morning at 7:30ish, the fish was dead. Not sure why. The tanks been up and running for alittle over a month (not counting cycling) with no problems. Should I treat the other fish with any sort of medication?
