    Re: Black guppies

I love the set-up! I really like the black substrate with the green contrast!

i have never had Najas "Fry" on me, just grow like crazy. and with that much light you are gonna have to trim a lot, how big is that tank? cus if its a 10 gallon u r insane. 13 watts a gallon will make anything frow liek crazy. that is if its a 10 gallon, shoot thats super lighting even on a 30.

          Nice!
I've had the same experience with Najas, it just grows, no matter what you do. Even if you try to get rid of it.  :)

              Re: Black guppies

sometimes a store has it, i saw it once and pounced, i like it a great deal but dont through it in a tank you plan to try and scape, unless the scape you want is najas only, it really really  can take over, but it is really nice for fry or shrimp breeding tanks.

                    Re: Black guppies

I saw najas grass at fish gallery but it was weak looking.

Walter, I am blasting a 10g  8)  with a 10g or anything smaller the wpg rule does not apply.....the wpg was just a help to get the par you need compared to the sun and in the small space of 10 or less it's hard to get what is needed just like how large tanks can go with less.

I went to CityPets,FishRanch and Fish Gallery yesterday to see if there was any cool looking guppies for my crossing plans but nothing looked nice.....the cool guys at Fish Gallery did hook me up with a few nice looking cobra females.

If the lighting and my overfeeding turns the najas into a weed I should have plenty to share!

its fun to see what tanks it will grow in and which it wont, you can try just putting one broken spring and seeing how long it takes to grow in a tank.

                          Re: Black guppies

ek, you might try Houston Aquatics for guppies.  John has a lot in the "back room", or at least he did.  Of course he does have some in tanks in the front of the store as well.  If you're looking for a particular type you could ask him if he has any available.
