I'm kinda late getting in on this thread, but just had to say Congrats, eklikewhoa, on your black guppy spawn. My honey, the auctioneer, bought me 1 of the 3 bags at the HLA auction. While none were all black like yours, the bag was full of babies and a lot of them are turning out all black. Really beautiful! Best $20 Charles has ever spent! Will be bringing them to some of the upcoming auctions in a few months.
well thats exactly what i was trying to say, its not a shame to pay 20 dollars per some guppies  if there is a lot of work done on them.
as you can see in those pictures somebody took the time and effort to create those wonderfull guppies and believe me its not easy.
for that reason i was saying that  sometimes kind of makes me sad , see nice guppies going for some little money.
and i hate when someone for lets say a cichild club say , ohh i dont know some nice guppies  lets start the auction for 1 dollar.
anyway is nothing i can really change, but maybe in this thread somebody can understand something a little bit more clearly.
well thanks for reading.
eikeowaoe you can come and visit my fish room anytime you want, i have pictrues of my fish but they are not the same as see my fish in person.
Yeah after digging through lots of google and the links you provided me with it does seem like a bit of work or at least time consuming. I actually think I got a steal of a deal with mine when comparing them to others that are out there.
I would love to check out your fish room Villa! I would like to trade a pair of my blacks as well....just in case something happens to mine I know there will be a pair in good hands.
well i am not saying that all the fish listed over there should be pay as gold.
but if you really truly start bredding guppies with a goal in mind, lets say
you want to have a all white guppy , or something different you will have lots of research to do, and  lots of space to use,and so on.
its time consuming , and then you realize how complicated is to deal with guppy genetics.
of course you can choose to go the easy way, and buy exactly what you like, and try to keep this line pure,
and that will be relativily easy, but it will be not cheap.
and thats logic.
or you can try going to your lfs and try to create your own line, and you will see how this fish dont have the genetic material , that you need.
anyway i think is because , what i have been doing i know this subtle differences.
Well, I finally stopped by Houston Aquatics today and picked up a few pairs of guppies.
Got some really nice ones too and they were pretty cheap though I did rip part of my fender off getting into the parking lot on the Lexus so the price on the guppies just shot through the roof!
Here are the males of the pairs I got...
I got a nice red one too but it didn't want to be in pictures.....these will all be going into my 30g which will be set up later today. I plan on setting up a few 10g's to start playing with the genetics thing so here's the start!
