  • Mollie Fry ! ! ! and then Failure

My first batch!! It only took forever but I finally had a fish produce some fry.

Today we moved her out of the planted 33 to a 3 gallon all alone. She was so big I was scared it would stress her out. We turned off all the lights to help keep her calm in the new tank. Less than 3 hours later my wife turned the kitchen light on and I saw a small shadow in the tank. We started looking and there are dozens of them in there. I should have left the gravel out though....some will probably get stuck.

Pictures arent the best but here ya go....

They'll be fine with the gravel. They're smart and hardy fry. Congrats!

See if this works. Only photo I have right now. I noticed last week that his color has faded.

I believe they can live in brackish. Ive seen some closer to the mouth of the river.

cool. I have Wild Caught Mollies too, and I have some that have hybridized with Gambusia.

I need to go to San Antonio to catch some of those huge 6 inch sail fins. The males have pretty green and blue coloring.

Oh and yes, mollies do live in brachish and can tolerate much higher salt levels than other livebearers

Well I thought I should share my mistake with the group. A couple days ago I moved the planted tank where the Mollies and some gambusa were living. Then I decided that the fry were big enough to join the group. I counted 43 fry as I added them to the tank. Two days later I could only find one among the plants. Yesterday I couldnt find any. The plants had been trimmed during the move so its pretty easy to see right now. I guess they werent big enough after two months.
