If you get the fx5, leave the 406 on there for a few weeks so your tank won't re-cycle

        • ok i think fx5 costs a bit to much since i already have a 406 and i plan on running 2 canisters i may aswell endup getting another 406 down the track.

Just to give you guys a bit of an update
I have purchased 3 java fern plants and 22 endlers

          • With livebreeders 2 405s will work fine. If you had a tank full of cichlids it wouldn't.

Are you going to mix puppies and endlers?

            • i have the female endlers in my 10 gallon at the moment and the male endlers in the 6fter.
Im happy for them to mix around with the female puppiess
Il leave the endler females in a natrual breeding line. I have a couple males in the 10galon

              will post up pics shortly

              • Ok guys i have a bit of a update for you all
In regards to my plants i have done some research and found that i will be doing a substitute for seachem flourish and root tabs. It will make it a hell of a lot cheaper to go the DIY version of the both.

                Liquid fert
                Rexolin APN dry mix
                -Potassium nitrate
                -mono potassium phosphate
                -Potassium sulphate

                Ingredients

                Chelate Trace Element Mix
Rexolin APN mix contains quality chelate forms of trace elements. It also contains Boron and Molybdenum as salts. Rexolin APN has been developed for the hydroponic industry, however it can be used in fertigation mixes for a wide range of crops. It has high solubility and can be used for foliar and soil applications.
                Element ratios:
Iron DTPA 6%; Manganese EDTA 2.4%; Boron 1.1%
                Zinc EDTA 1.3%; Copper EDTA 0.25;
                Molybdenum 0.25%; Cobalt EDTA 0.03%

                Dosage :

                100-125 Gallons

                Macro

                1 1/2 tsp KNO3 3x a week - Potassium nitrate

                1/2 tsp KH2PO4 3x a week - mono potassium phosphate
                1/2 tsp K2SO4 3x a week - Potassium sulphate

                Micro

1/2 tsp (30ml) traces 3x a week -Rexolin APN micro mix

                Dosing schedule

I will be placing orders on these ingridents soon and dosing as listed

                Root tabs

I will be doing simply adding osmocote to 00 size capsules and berrying them deep into my sand once every few months

                <font color="#000000"><strong>

I do have a temporary t8 system atm just for time being while i save for my t5 setup which i have discussed in the earlier posts

                • IMO: With the time you spent researching, mixing, and putting in capsule. Plus the money, and time finding. I think seachem flourish is just easier, and not that much more money.

                      • Hey guys sorry for the late update I have been busy with work lately and hav3nt had time to do much. I have a galaxy s4 now so pictures are not a problem :)
I have added some more slate and rocksss and also added some hypsophry cichlid babies to the tank. I will be converting this tsnk to a cichlid tank and will be getting a 20gallon tank and set that up as my livebearer community tank. Im yet to get the 20gallon but I will post up what im doing with it when the time comes. The tank is far frok finished it needs backdrop still and a 72" t5 fixture which I still havent got! Also il be getting a internwl otto 2000lph poweheadd to help push the water down and another 406 canister to help accomidate the cichlids

                        • Well that's too bad that it's going to turn into a cichlid tank. Have you thought about a community tank with rainbow fish, rasboras, or some other non livebearers?

                            • It will look great as a Cichlid tank. I just picked up 6 hypsophry my self. So it will be intesting to see how they grow.
