    WOW...didn't know that about swordtails - I always see a bunch of them together at the fish store....

    I happened to be at Petco tonight - picking up some fish supplies - and saw a bunch of pineapple sword fry with their mom in a tank.  The lady saw me admiring them - they are so cute and tiny and yellow :)  

    They offered to let me adopt them so I took them home.  

    When should I separate them out - male/female?  How soon do they show a difference?

      What size is their new tank? How is it decorated? Do you know how many you brought home? About how big are they right now? That will help determine when you'll be able to tell the sexes.

        They are in a breeding net in a 20 gallon with some guppy fry.  They were likely born the day I got them.  I have about 15 or so.  They are growing and are maybe an eighth of an inch long now.

        I feed them several times a day and use a tiny pipette to suck out all the waste from the container they are in.  Water changes are done 1-2 times a week.
