In case anyone is interested, City Pets has Pike Livebearers, Belenesox belizanus, in stock. Unfotunately, they have anchor worms at this time. I was assured by several employees there that they are being treated for this and will be available for purchase after the parasites have been treated for. Very interesting fish,. Anyone know if they would be safe to keep with bichirs, blood parrots, and climbing perch?

Re: Pike Livebearer
I would imagine there must be some exception in this case or if not, then City Pets might want to rethink selling this fish to the public.....????

Re: Pike Livebearer
truth be told the fish and game office is really understaffed, but its the real responsible people like us on here that make up for their lack of people. of course its also illegal to sell baby turtles and almost no shop that does that gets reported. I have called before to ask about why it wasnt enforced enough and they said they just didnt have time, and it wasnt as big an issue as it ws in the past. seems like the laws needs a revamp on that. but the big issue with why these fish are on a banned list is probably because they can survive in our waters and breed very quickly. meaning they can take over. and trust me they dont want gamefish being run out by exotics that are much harder to fish for. outdoors activities are good for the economy.Never fear I is here

There is no exception. Please see: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild...pecies/exotic/. Scroll down to:
Pike Killifish, Family Poeciliidae
Belonesox belizanus
I would suggest the shop contact TP&W and turn the fish in. I haven't recently researched the fines for possession of prohibited exotic species, but it used to be very significant.
