I think it would be fun to try them in brackish but can't put my frogs and pleco in that. As always you are a wealth of knowledge. Thank you!

They do wonderful and are amazingly healthy. They transition to FW hard and ship, after about 2-3 weeks they start crashing and just fail. Many stores are just unaware of the practice and avoid buying guppies. Try some from local breeders using our tap, like Houston Aquatics. He breeds his on site and has some very nice proven lineages. Bet you have better success

Well I've made it a whole 24hrs with no dead fish! I won't be dancing until I've made it at least a week or two.

Got another sick male. I give up. Thanks to Roy and was it Morpheus or Troy who also told me about them being raised in brackish until they come here. At least I know it's not my fault that I can't seem to keep these "easy" little fish. It just makes me sick to see these beautiful little guys die one by one almost on a daily basis.

So far I haven't been willing to rehome my BN pleco into the 75gal along with putting the frogs into another tank so that I can slowly turn the guppy tank into bracksih, which I still think would be neat, and who knows, maybe they would take a turn for the better. I'm just having too much fun watching the pleco make a mess all over the tank and be the funny little thing that it is. Some mornings when I turn the light on it looks like a tornado went through there. This morning BN was laying on her side stuck to the glass and whipping her tail back and forth causing a sand storm and creating a hole to the bottom of the tank. Man she's funny.

Pick up some from Houston Aquatics, you'll have far better luck and will be amazed at the difference in hardiness. You'll be covered in guppies in no time

Can't believe I missed this post. Remember, I know where you live.

I can't believe it because they were doing so good, but I woke up to a dead guppy and another with a shredded tail about to die. All from T&T of course, but they seemed so fine yesterday. This guy's tail was flowing yesterday, less than 24 hours ago!!!

What are your parameters? Anything look amiss?

7.2, .25 ammonia, 0 nitrites. My nitrates were high, but I haven't retested since my water change yesterday. The confusing thing to me is none of my other fish in the tank are having any issues.

The more I think about it the more upset I'm getting about the new sick guppy. He has that same hazy looking saddle on his back that one of my females had. There hasn't been any signs of ich in the tank for days. Do you guys think it's likely bacterial? I know I'm asking you to make a wild guess with no pic. The spot is not fuzzy.

It was between 0-.25 I have trouble reading the colors on the chart sometimes.

Wait and see what the experts say but I've never added fish to a tank until I have 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite and some nitrates that show. Some people on other forums say that .25 really won't hurt the fish. Are you doing liquid tests?

Yes, I used the api liquid test. More accurate than the strips. I also agree with you... You're no expert!

Could this be because Crizz changed out all of his gravel for sand? Could it have upset the bacteria? When I first changed my gravel for sand I did half the tank and waited a week before I did the rest.
