I'm not holding my breath but my sick male is still hanging in there and eating. My psycho killer, better know as The Blood, that is still isolated in his own tank is still doing fantastic. My other 2 males that were sick, and I thought for sure that one of them would die, seem to be all healed and doing well. The girls, which came from Crizz, look fine.

I really do need a bigger tank for them all. I'm going to go crazy one day and just tell everyone on here to come pick them up! Lol

Maybe just the platys, I don't know that I could give my guppies away!

Do you really want to be a Master Guppy Breeder? If you do. You don't need a bigger tank. You need More tanks. If you are breeding. Your guppies must be pure. For that you need 4 tanks for each color type.

I have a pure strain bluegrass, and I isolated the babies when they were born. Unfortunately, I moved them all into the main tank when I got the T&T guppies so I could use the 10 as a qt. I'm not super serious about it right now, but I really enjoy watching them grow up and how their colors develop. The babies are still pure, but I didn't think I'm going to continue to breed them for the time being. I took my 10 gallon down when I got the 20. I am planning on keeping the 10 gallon though.

Currently, I'm SUPER into my new pea puffers! They are so cute and dangerous! Lol

Do you breed fish? It seems both enjoyable and a pain in the rear. It would be nice to make a little money off the hobby though. I'm kind of torn...

I love my pea's. And Yes I have been breeding fish for years. I still have 3 proven breeding pairs and waiting on 3 others to start breeding.
As for making money at it. It keeps me in the hobby. I run a really low budget set-up.

Obviously Guppies would be easy to breed, but most likely wouldn't bring much money in. I don't think I would get into the practice of shipping them, but there could be a market here right?

What do you breed? How many tanks do you have setup for each breeding pair? I'm definitely a novice, but clearly the subject has crossed my mind more than once. My Bluegrass had NO problems at all breeding, either!

Rarer fish cost more and are more risk, with a smaller market but fetch far more. Only a few rare fish will ever make anyone rich, but you can be decently successful with the right species, market, and audience. Those livebearers we brought in for last meeting brought a good amount and as only 1-2 folks in the US breed them can maintain decent value. Rarer Tanganyikans can command high value if you can get them to that point as well. Its just finding a species that can be bred and is sought after and difficult to find. Shrimp are actually a solid continual seller year in and year out.

Agree with mnemenoi. Cherry Shrimps! They are easy to keep and breed like guppies

I tried ghost shrimp when I set my very first tank up, but they never lasted long. I wasn't sure if it was because my tank wasn't really ready yet, Petsmart didn't have good stock or I just didn't know what the heck I was doing. I decided to stop killing all the shrimp and never tried again. I wanted to try red cherry shrimp in my main tank, but John at HAW advised me that my Plecos would probably eat them since the shrimp were small and my Plecos are carnivores.

I never had any luck with ghost shrimp and MANY fish until I started drip acclimating. I've sent a youtube video so that you can see. This is what I mentioned to you over the weekend. You don't need to buy a drip acclimation kit. If you ever want me to show you how I do it I will, for a fee. LOL

In this episode of AquaHound's Dirty Little Secrets I will be covering acclimation using the drip method. This method of acclimating your fish, invertebrate...

I've been thinking of getting some cherry shrimp when I'm past my recent guppy disasters. I'm not sure what all I want in the 20 long though.
