  • Collecting Gambusia affinis

Today, I went out to a retention pond by Brays Bayou right off 610 in Meyerland. My goal was to collect a few Gambusia. Well, it's safe to say that I caught more than a few.

I happened to catch some Sailfin Molly (Poecilia latipinna) fry as well. I spotted a male in a shallow spot, but the ground was too soft and muddy to try to catch him. I also caught three Plecostomus fry and two very young Bullhead Catfish as well.

As for the Gambusia, there are at least two nice trios I'm certainly keeping. Anyway, please excuse the crappy photos.

Yep they are, even though I never used them as such.
