Colors are nice on longears. I'm still all for texas even though their temperment is semi aggressive you don't have to keep them to a species only tank...they can be housed with similar sized fish that will not tolerate being bullied and the way they interact with owners makes them alot more fun to have IMO. I guess sunfish just remind me too much of a bass and its one of the reasons I couldn't have em. Not everything is about color you know.

Longears will interact with you. Most sunfish will, centrarchids are the North American counterpart of cichlidae, they share a lot of behaviors. Why you gotta hate on bass? =P

Grammodes, look in the neighborhood bayous in First Colony. They like areas with a lot of structure and cover. Bridges with rocks underneath them, the concrete parts of drains, etc. Water doesn't have to be very deep. I can tell you I have not found them in Oyster Creek and the bayous connected to it. Get a cricket hook, cut the barb off and use worms, you'll find them.

Not hatin on bass bro, its just that every time i see one i wanna eat it lol. Just love the aggressive types i guess. I have a fauxhawk and it bugs my fish i guess they think i'm a flaring fish, they try to get me through the tank and i love that about them!

Half the fun in keeping natives is in finding them yourself. These guys shouldn't be hard to find, they're all over the state. Just saw some in the Pedernales outside of Austin over the weekend.

Go fish any ditch or small stream. Catch them all the time over here in clear lake. Just respect the natives. Admire from afar is the best advice given.....
