I've only caught the one. I've lived in Sugarland all my life and have never seen or caught one up until about a year ago. Completely by accident. I can say, it's a very aggresive fish. Not sure what you could keep them with. Maybe a gar.

I think that's exactly why he won't share the location. As soon as he does, everyone will scoop out every fish they can find, and he'll lose the pleasure of enjoying the fish in the wild.

There are some ponds near the Bass Pro Shop in Pearland that has breeding pairs in them. You can sit on the shore and watch them with all of their fry. They are also very abundant in Tom Bass Park. If you are farther north then they can be found in Spring Creek, Willow Creek and in Lake Woodlands. Most of the Lakes and ponds up here have them.

I know i would, many North American Natives are just as colorful, have just as much personality as cichlids, and they are free for the catching.

I tried Tom Bass Park just a couple weeks ago.. It was a total fail. The only things swimming around were bass. I tried all over.. lol.
