First time I saw one was at a NANFA convention in 2008 at Lake Athens, TX. They did an electro shocking demo to collect fish and it was amazing to see a few 2' bowfins float to the top. Recently, I was fishing in my sister's private pond in Porter, TX and caught two that were 16". These guys are intimidating looking with their mouth full of razor sharp teeth!

No no no.. Very vicious fish!! We fed him a ton of massivore and market shrimp so he got lazy and just waited to get fed lol awesome personality! He ate the male belensoz belizanus which I thought was HUGE for him but than when we gave him to ewurm, he ate a super nice bicher that was bigger than him and ended up choking and dying..

Don't underestimate how vicious these are lol they will eat gars, bichirs, catfish.... Heck probably snakeheads if you put them in lol Get one!! Colors are stunning as well!!

Do it! That would be cray cray! Really though, I can post on minnfish if you want because it is spring and some people can scoop out like 50 in one netting because they swim together so it is a huge swarm of black but the weeds and just scoop em out

I usually catch some in the ditch neart my familys place. Its gonna be a while till they come back. It was really dry last year and the pond where the adults live dried up. I'll keep you in mind when they start showing up again. We call them grinnel. They have rows of sharp, tiny teeth and i have seen them with red, green, and a bright aqua color during spawning season.
