definitely not at the Chinese GPS coordinates he manually attached to the images.

Nope, not smallies. Look at the mouth and markings.

On smallmouth bass the mouth does not extend past the eye.

They all have similar markings as juveniles.

Either way, at the size in the pictures in the original post, they are undersize and illegal to keep.

Smallies were introduced to a few cold-water rivers and reservoirs in texas. Most of those are in the Edwarsds Plateau.

Smallies also have vertical bars, not the horizontal bar of the largemouth.

I'm not sure about this but can't you have ponds or small lakes stocked with fish by TPWL?

Here's some helpful links to those of you who collect fish in the wild.
Keeping native fish=possesion (unless you have some special permits). This is a general discussion on Texas fishing regulations: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/regulati.../general.phtml
These are allowed methods of collection:

This discusses bag limits. Note that usually you can keep in posession about 2x bag limit, and some ypes of fish have no limit:

This is a good article written by an avid collector, that I found:
                          Emerald Green Rainbowfish
                          Yellow Rabbit Snails

Nice links, think the admin and some of the members have posted in the stickied threads about this.

I'm sure there are a lot of tanks with a bit of duckweed or the like... most are quick to point fingers

There used to be a TPWD program whereby they would stock a private pond after they asessed that it would sustain the microcosm. If they stocked it for free you had to allow the public to fish the pond. If you paid for the stocking you didn't have to let the public have access. I don't know if this program still exists.
