    Re: New House, New aquarium

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen Discus hanging out in a cave.  BTW, I really like that cave, I may make something like that for my "next" tank.

Made my first visit to Village tropical!

Awsome place as expected. Got some great plants and some algae eaters.
Just wish i could remember the name to all the plants I got.
      My plants
      Baby tears

      Dwarf Sag

Here you can see the new OTOs also. I got 4 regular OTOs and 4 Niger. One is already about dead and in another tank.

      Fish
looks to be a female cory ready to lay eggs

And a view of the whole tank.

        ITS IN!

Had to do some painting and wanted to put up some bead board which had to get done before the tank could go in place, but here it is!

And the best news is I have something to put in it. A good customer and new friend had purchased $3000 bucks worth of fish, tanks, and equipment from Fish R' us (all the same day) without explaining the cycling process or giving any garantee on fish.  well having become friends with her shes decided if I help her set up her tanks when she moves shes going to GIVE me her MBU PUFFER!   At 48x24x31 the tank should be good till he is about 12-18 inches I hope. Then I'll have to upgrade ray: or find a better home for him. But untill then.. WOO! I've got a big puffer! :king:

This means that I'll have to find a place for my Cichlid I'd been keeping in this tank for a while.

I won't be getting the puffer till the tank sets up and runs for a while. and I need to get rid of the Kenyi.. they wouldn't get along.

Have you ever seen dwarf puffers? only get to about 1.5 inches. My store has a dozen or so of them. one of my favorites but they can be aggressive little fish

              what is your store?

fish ranch had tiny ones that were about 1/2" long head to tail and the pattern on them was odd looking compared to the spots/eights, scribbles i have seen.

Funny you should mention this.  I'm in the market for a couple of Dwarf Puffers (Carinotetraedon travancoricus) right now but have had a hard time finding them.  I'm on the SE side of town and have mostly been looking at some stores around here.  A year ago it seems like I saw them everywhere I went and now that I want a couple I can't find them anywhere.  I was even at Village on Friday.

I'm assuming this sticker is on the outside of the aquarium?  If so, then just use some Goo-B-Gone.  It will dessolve any kind of glue.  It's petroleum based so it does kind of leave a slick sheen behind.  Just wait a little while after you've used the Goo-B-Gone and then clean the area with Windex or something and you'll be good to go.  The stuff works like a charm.  Don't get any in your tank though.  My guess is it would kill everything (especially something as sensitive as Discus.)

UGH, the 20lb tank was delivered while I was at work today. They will try again tomorrow.
My store is the petsmart in the woodlands. At first we had a Helluva time getting good puffers. but we've been lucky lately. I suspect stores stopped carying them because they don't ship well.

This puffer was the only one out of 12 that survived the first shipment we got.

I'll see if I can find the GOO B GONE.

Just beat you with the puffer picture!

Also, the 150 is showing no signs of leaking!

                          Re: New House, New aquarium

Well the BIG 20# co2 tank is in, partially filled and running.

Suprisingly this giant tank fits under my stand!
The output is directly into the intake of my canister filter so I think it is getting disolved well.

Its running at only about 1 bps for now so I don't stress my fish. I'll turn it up tomorrow.

A welding supply place not far from me can fill tanks, but only from another tank. So I only got about 5 lbs of gas. enough for months but not full.

I noticed the filter on the 150 is leaking! maybe that is where the water was coming from.   So i'm in the market for a new filter. Ebay has the JEBO for about 60 bucks and with the sponge filter I got along with the co2 regulator I should have enough capacity for the 150 with just one big puffer.

Well, its been an interesting day. Busy day at petsmart where a chinchilla that had been sold and was being held was sold again.. thankfully another petsmart across town had one.

Went to Village tropical today with friends who had never been. They got a bunch of plants and things and I got 10-14 amano shrimp.
I talked with THE MAN about my sick discus and got some good info.. However when I got home my sick discus had already passed...

                            Sad day..

I did see some BEAUTIFUL discus at village that I want. a leapord. They just got them in and weren't for sale though.. maybe I'll get some $ for chrismtas

Sence I've had luck with the generic canisters I figured I'd stick with them. I got a larger version of the JEBO for christmas on ebay.

BIG tubing, good flow. and I managed to get it hooked up to the sponge filter i got purchaced with the co2 regulator.

Hopefully it will be enough for the MBU

My Daughter (28yo) got a 120 for Xmas and would like someone to help her select filters and other equment needed to set the beast up.  If you are in the Pearland area and would like to help, please send me a PM
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
