    Re: New House, New aquarium

Fish Ranch isn't too far from Village Tropical if you are headied toward downtown anyhow. They have a wide selection (depending on what you are interested in). Its at 59S near Bellaire.

Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

and since you are on bellaire you could hit up global fish&petson bellaire and gessner in the fiesta shopping center, and while you are there might as well hit up citypets on beechnut and b8.

        Re: New House, New aquarium

        Went shoppin today!
Got a few plants from petsmart, so nothing exotic in that department.

Went by Ultimate fish to look at plants and discus and didn't see anything I liked. The plants were more hair algae than plant. The discus were small and didn't appear to be of any particular type.

So I went by Fish-R-Us and bought 2 discus!  Ive said I'll never buy from them but they discus looked healthy and well colored so I couldn't resist.

          Re: New House, New aquarium

Does anyone have tips on getting new discus to eat? They ate well at fish r us before i picked the ones i wanted.  Maybe its the bright lights.

Today at work a lady came in asking for help getting her 55 gallon set up. the pump on her 135 gallon wet dry died and killed all her fish.  She said she was only asking about 300 bucks for it!

I'm sure I could get that much for the 150 I have (if it holds water of course)

I really don't NEED another tank though! But who doesn't WANT another.

probably try adding some garlic smell/juice to the food or just let them settle in.

I just needed to get their attention. They ate well today when I walked in the door. I'll make that my ritual and hope they come up to greet me when I come home!

Glad to hear they're eating.  Soon they'll be following you around when you're near the tank and giving you their "I'm starving, please feed me" look.

                  Best pic yet.

just wait till I clean it!

the Ocianic sticker was left on it for probably a year before I bought it and now I can't get the glue off. razors, glass cleaners, nothing seems to work. Also, I placed the aquarium too close to a wall to be able to clean behind it. any clever ideas out there to clean the back?

Don't know about the back...something with a handle, maybe?? I can't tell for sure, but do you have a background on the tank? It might be a little difficult to put on there, but if you do you probably won't have to clean the back of the aquarium anymore.

By the way, the tank looks great! I LOVE the right side! What's the plant on the left and right of the cave? Some sort of Myrio?

Filligree Myrio, or just "Frill" at petsmart

Maybe i'll get one of those swiffer dusters.

That's what I was thinking! But probably don't use the pads with the soap and stuff on them, that might be bad.

If the glue is the problem, you could try a little bit of vegetable oil. Put some on your finger and rub it on the sticky left from the sticker. IME that has worked well.

Did you ever figure out anything about the water underneath your bottom glass? Was it just condensation?

It is still nearly full, no signs of water LEAKING. the condensation disapeared for a while but came back when it cooled off. I may drain it and get it up on the stand soon to be able to get a decent look at it
