Thanks for bringing that up. I need to get one of them soon.

Peter, The leaf like structure or bract which surrounds inflorescence or spadix in Crypts, Anubias and plants from Araceae family is know as spathe.

            B

if you look at the last pic you posted, is there a reason that java moss is there (possibly to keep the soil moist)?

Bhushan, when you put one of the emersed plants in a fully immersed tank, do you customarily get melting on the crypts and anubias at first?

Yes you will get a melting effect as the plant transistions from emersed to submerged.
Sorry to answer for you B

I've experienced this as well, just wondered if Bhushan also did or whether he had different results for some reason.

Manifresh and Thanh, thanks a lot.
Luis , you can come over to my place anytime. How does this weekend sound?

Mark, I think it depends a lot on the species with crypts. I have had C.wendtii 'green' and C. x willisii go submerged and emersed without melting.
I have never had Anubias melt on me going from emersed to submerged.

I have another question for you
Fertilizer regeime. What are you using and is there any thing in particular to get the Crypt to send out a spathe?

I have done Anubias emersed, and had only a little of what you could describe as melting, although not full blown melting, during the transition phase. I have never done Crypts and I am thinking abot doing a small set up.

Did you have any melting when you reintroduce the plants to a sumberged state?
