Green gain, among other things has a growth hormone for plants. It is designed to reduce stress from planting, triming or water changes. IMHO it works but is not by any means required.

And for how I know this, well been doing this for a while and a lot of support from NASH, ADG and others.

This is the quote from ADG Shop
"Stemmed plants require frequent trimming. Stress that plants receive at trimming sometimes restrains their growth. Green Gain contains active ingredients (trace elements, minerals, amino acid etc.). Among other various botanical hormones, Green Gain includes cytokinin which, extracted from natural materials, eases plant stress and increases the resistance of aquatic plants against diseases."

The dosage is 2-3 drops per 10L so about 1 drop per gallon...approximately.

we had to trim some of the plants so they would fit in our tanks. They were all originally a lot longer
