I have a 55g tank with some Co2 in it and I'm wanting to put some Tiger Lotus, Stagittaria Subulata and Najas Grass in it. My question is, what kind of light will I need? This would be my first "real" planted tank, so I don't know what to do. Thanks!

I am not familiar with Stagittaria or Najas but I know with CO2 and about 4 watts a gallon the Tiger lotus grows fast in my tank now if you up it to about 6-7 like my other tank with in 8 months you will have about 4-5 new lotus patches

This one is probably where I would start off at and go higher depending on what you want. Marine depot has good sales at times too.

fishboyt, I grew those plants in a co2-injected tank with heavy ferts and almost 5 wpg. The lights are coralife pc and NO fluorescent, all 6700K color temp. I injected co2 to 25 - 28 ppm.

Light are inexpensive and color temps are good. I prefer the 8000K over the 10,000k. The 10k are too blue-white, the 8000k have a green-white look to them tha really make the plants "pop". also the color is great for plant growth.Houston Areas Aquatic Plant Society
