  • Fissidens

Just got some fissidens from Dave the other day, he gave me two samples and oddly enough the differ in color. One sample is a captive strain that he got the other is a collect strain from San Marcos. The San Marcos is darker in color than the captive strain. Both strains where in the same tank for some time to my knowledge. I told Dave I would place as sample of each in s few separate conditions to confirm the color differance.

Did you guys ever figure out if we had indeed collected two different variants of fissidens in San Marcos? Or were they just the same species growing in different conditions?

Are the two given to you by Dave both supposed to be F. fontanis?

If I was to bet on a species differance, I would say they are all the same

but a possibility on a color varent exists due to the darker color that persists despite identical conditions. I am acting as a second test group to see of the color stays
