    so if there emergent leaves dying when should i cut them off?

      No need to cut them off unless they're completely wasted. Instead, increase your fertilizer schedule. Look into using dry ferts. Flourish isn't enough.

      Another option is to add root tabs to the substrate. Swords are very heavy root feeders.

      But, basically, what you see is the result of the plants starving. Not enough nutrients to keep them going.

              I faced this problem a yr ago. In my opinion it has everything to do with your water chemistry. Check it first..

              Other option is to try changing water more frequently for a couple of weeks.

                Probably due to insufficient lighting or you just planted them? Some of the leaves on my newly planted plants melted.
