A few updated shots...still waiting on a few plants and of coarse more fish. Just have cardinals, rummy nose and 2 Bolivian rams for now. Still want that crypt spiralis for the back left corner by the spray bar.

Just working out the ferts too, have a little algae growing on the moss. :(

Feed back welcome!! Thanks for looking.

Nice! That crypt in the front on the right looks happy, and beautiful! :)

Did you find anubias nana? It looks like you found some sort of anubias there on the driftwood on the left.

Are those Rummynose and Cardinal tetras? Is that correct?

      Looking great. :)

Thank you!! Yes I found the nana at Fish Gallery. And yes those are rummy nose and cardinal tetras. Still having a little trouble with the stem plants. The red plants stems seem to die off, maybe I don't have enough light to the lower portion. The lower stem seems to just wither and die off, the top still does ok until the bottom catches up.

Maybe I should look for something else...I want some red color in that spot, maybe red temple???

Doesing full line of Flourish products. Excel NPK, trace and Iron. and Flourish comp mid week. Still trying to get it all right though...130w CFL 6,700k 10hrs daily on the 55g tank.

          It looks really good.

You can run successful plant tanks without CO2.

          I'm running both ways.

I'm runnnig a 29 gallon bio cube. Put Red Sea substrate in it. Keeping Anubias and bronze wendti and giving them flourish excel every now and then and the plants are looking good and healthy.

Red temple may work but I've had better luck with it in higher light/co2 tanks. Try rotala magenta for some color. Rotala indica also gets pink tops in my low light 30 long. Is that sag on the right side? Looks like it's staging an assault. LOL

Thanks Mark!! It's val-nana ( i think that's what he called it) on the right side, got it from HAW. And yeah it's going to keep me busy trimming! Never have seen it before, it's just a thin leaved val.

Very cool!! IMO the wood on the right hand side is starting to get hidden. Both of those peices are really nice too. Keep the pics comin!!

Thanks guys. i do have a piece of java moss on the piece of wood to the right that I am not too sure about. I ended up spinning the wood a bit to face the glass more to be a bigger focal point. I will see how that works. thanks for the input guys! :)

Very nice! Really good plant growth, especially for a new tank.

Some red plants (and green ones for that matter) simply do not do well with low ferts and no CO2. Some plants just require it, but not all.

The only thing I would suggest to improve the tank is to add a background. Black is always my favorite for planted tanks because it makes the plant colors pop.

Looks really nice. Curious why did you use light diffusers on the bottom?

I can't speak for naps, but I also use light diffusers on the bottom of my planted tanks. I use them because I have large rocks in some of those tanks, and it's just a good practice to be doubly careful to protect the tank. Dropping a large rock in a tank is always a risk which is made less risky with the added protection.
