The point of this tank is subdued lighting. Another reason I'm not worried about the tannins from the wood. I don't want an ultra-bright tank like my tropheus. The cardinals start to glow later in the day.

          That's funny...

It's already planted. I got some really nice echinodorus from a guy in Florida. This is a biotope based tank, there are very few plants (if any) in the Orinoco blackwater areas. I trying to find suggestions for a moss that looks like algae on the wood.

Okay, I could have sworn we had a jaw-dropping emoticon here . . . That's what I would post. That tank is simply amazing. You have totally achieved the biotope effect - the first video reminds me of videos taken in the wild. Amazing, amazing, amazing.

Could you post some close-up pictures of the plants? I'd like to see how you've situated them amongst the driftwood, and I can't tell from the video.

Let us know if you find that moss. Any moss I can think of that would look like algae on the wood would have to be trimmed quite often to keep the effect going. The only time I've been able to achieve this look is when I do a massive moss trim and leave only the remnants which are clinging tightly to the wood.

Looks awesome. How many tetras do you have in there really like the schooling. I need to get more for my tank but unsure what amount.

Thank you guys for all the comments

The tenellus micro is starting to turn red in the front area and side. The augustifolios (sp?) is also slowly spreading. When everything fills in, you will be able to see the plants better.

There are at least 150 cardinals and 35 rummy. Sometimes they school together and sometimes separately.

                Full lineup:
                150 cardinals
                35-40 rummy
                11 sailfin tetras
                1 altum
                11 leopoldi (I think)
                18 cories
                30-40 hatchets
                5 rhinos
                5 farlowellas
and today I'm adding a dicrossus pair

Aquatek is planning to get some black morpho tetras in this week so they may get added also.

Finally installed one of my inline heaters and a homemade CO2 reactor. The plants are slowly starting to spread, and I've started my regimen of ferts and water changes.

Tomorrow, I hope to install the second heater, and find a better bracket to hold the reactor (versus zip-line).

I think I might give my 300 10ft to Mary Beth as a birthday present...

300 green Neons, 100 cory cats, and Angels..but I'd have to tell her they would all have to be wild caught to keep the "elitist" theme going around... :)

By the way your tank looks awesome and it is a true work of art here...

                            Sounds cool Geoff.

One lesson though: When angels are happy - cardinals turn into really expensive food. (As well as small rummys and hatchetfish)
