  • No more Coralife 6,700k CF lights??

So Fish Gallery just told me Coralife is no longer making any 6,700k 65w CF light bulbs...so anyone have any suggestions? Straight pin as well.

I tried Big Als and they are out too. Does any other company make these bulbs in 6,700k that will fit the Coralife lights that are any good? trying to grow plants and I feel 6,700k is where it's at. Or other suggestions too.

    Thanks!

Use 10,000K bulbs, probably will have better luck since it overlaps into the saltwater side of the hobby. 10,000k is a great spectrum for planted tanks and is what I use when I can not get 8,000k. It is what I currently have on my T5 fixtures.

But that's not really ideal for freshwater planted...correct?

8,000k is probably the best, 6,500K is perfectly acceptable and 10,000K is great as well. As long as the bulb spectrum is between 6000-10,000k you will do good.

Given the choice I prefer 10,000k over 6,500K, I like it more on the white.

within the 6,000k and 10,000k range it is really preferance when concerned with plants. A lot of people like the 6500K due to color, this is chosen more for fish than for plants. Some people think that the 10,000k washes our some of the colors in fish (I am not one of these people).

Try City Pets. They did have a nice stock of Coralife bulbs.

I have used both Hellolights and Marine Depot's PC lights. One of them is an 8800k, but I can't find the brand on the actual bulb... :(

I swear by Current's Dual Daylight bulbs, though. :)

Here are some options if you're thinking about ordering online:

That's just crazy that the 6700Ks would be discontinued. Apparently the 8800Ks were, as well.

Let the panic buying on the 6700k begin. Just kidding.

Frankly, I'm partial to 10,000k myself but I think I'll try the 10,000k/6700k. I still think 6700k is too yellow and 10,000k is too white. I'm curious.

Just keep in mind that every brand's "6700K" is going to look different, and can have a widely different spectrum than the next one.

I have a brand new in the box CoralLife Colormax 6700K pc, 65 watt 21" straight pin that I wouldn't mind trading for a 10,000K if you cant find a 6700K. I bought on bigalsonline and did not want to bother with shipping it back.

Maybe later down the road. I ended up getting those Current 6,700/10,000k daylight bulbs for now.

                            Thanks for the offer!
