  • What is wrong with this sword?

This plant just isn't doing well.

Any thoughts on what is wrong with it?

The leaves get black spots and then eventually the leaf gets clear and pathetic looking.

Make sure you provide good co2, lighting, and fertilize! What is your setup?

How long have you had the sword? Has it been doing this the whole time?

      Do you use any ferts?

Trim back all the dead leave and give new leaves a chance. Adding root tab is best for sword/rooted plants.

It came with the used tank when I got it a few months ago. It has slowly started to do worse.

My tank isn't setup with CO2 or aqua soil. I only put this plant in because I had it. I have good lighting. Too good... I have algae if I don't cut back on the lighting time.

          I have never fertilized before.

Are any other plants in the tank doing badly?

I'd try root tabs, as suggested, and maybe some iron. From what I've heard and experienced, swords like iron. :)

And yes, as tnguyen also suggested, pull off those leaves that are clear. They'll just end up dying, and algae LOVES dying leaves.

Thank you for the help. Went during lunch to get root tabs and ended up spending over $60 on all kinds of impulse buys.
