My tanks and the diffusers came in, but only one regulator has shown up.  So I’ve got one tank going now.  It was $25 to fill a 10 lb. tank at Village.  I won’t know how pricey this is until I see how long the CO2 lasts.  Every morning I set it up to run 1 bubbles every 2 seconds, but after the night when the solenoid shuts it off, the bubbles stop.  I think it’ll be fine once I find the magic pressure.

BTW, in getting the tanks filled I found out why the angels in the show tank at Village died.  The CO2 they had going in the tank didn’t shut off at night and they had a pH crash.

A bubble every two seconds seems a lot?
Im still using the DIY method and im getting a bubble every 15-20 seconds. I thought you were supposed to aim for 3-4 bubbles a minute?
If someone could let me know, thanks.

you should be aiming at 2-4 bps but the better measurement of co2 should be at 30ppm using your kh and ph to find the correct ppm

I run 3 bubbles per second on my 30g to get a bit over 30ppm's of co2. LIke flounder stated, the bps is just a guesstimate, somthing to get you started and after it all shuts off or at night you should check the ph/kh to get a more accurate co2 reading. With Diy you don't get nothing close to pressurized and you can't control it much so it doesn't matter.


That's weird that village charged you $25 they charged me $15, I think City Pets is cheaper but not sure how much.

With the setting of the regulator I have found that if the solenoid is mounted on the regulator the setting changes slightly when everything warms up so wait till then to set it. When mine comes on it is a bit high but within about 10mins it levels out and gets perfect.

www.aquariumplants.com has a milwaukee regulator setup for $80. They also have the aluminum tanks for a good price $70 for a #10 I believe.

Check your local welding supply for refills. I called around in the woodland/spring area and most places are filling a #10 fo $12.
