I am contemplating converting our 29 gal endler tank to low tech, low light planted. My question is can I put eco complete or aqua-soil over the top of my gravel, or do I need to completely remove the gravel ? There is already some java moss and christmas moss, along with some wisteria growing in there. Bioload is about 20 Endlers, 6 Cherry Red Shrimp, 4 Ghost shrimp, a few small mystery snails, and a common pleco. Thanks for any suggestions

You can do whatever you want!!! :)
For aesthetic purposes I'd probably remove the old stuff... but it is by no means a requirementScarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

I'd remove the gravel. Eventually they'll become mixxed with the smallest particles migrating to the bottom.
MarkWhat are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
