    Me and brian are having a little friendly competition, we both set up planted tanks this week and wanna see whos is better. The owner of which tank will not be revealed until the end.

    First pic and setup:

    5.5 gallon
    Marineland bio wheel 100
    18w power compact 6500k
    150 watt marineland heater
    ADA aquasoil
    dosed with iron and kent pro plant

    Plants:
    Anubias nana
    Java fern
    Rotala indica
    Bronze Wendtii crypt
    Japanese Moss ball

    Stock:
    10 Brass tetras
    5 espei rasbora
    10 Pygmy cories
    1 Bumblebee gobie
    2 M/F Red-melon gourami
    1 nerite
    1 flying fox
    4 assassin snails

    Scape:
    Zebra granite
    Malaysian drift wood

    Eheim Ecco 2234 Canister Filter
    Current 20" 2x24watt Power Compact Light running 1x 24watt Coralife 10,000K and 1x 24watt Coralife Actinic
    ADA Aquasoil and Torpedo Sand mix

    i voted for #1 but i think #2 has a lot of potential
    25g - Reef
    3.5g - Surge Tank
    10g - Ichthyophthirius multifilis breeding colony

      I think most people already know whos is whos, didnt you (Mark) post questions about your setup just 6 days ago? Seems kinda quick for a contest...I say grow them out for a few months and then try this again....its one thing to have some plants scaped here or there, but another to have them flourish over time. Good luck and have fun guys.

          I agree, the plants need time to fill out. #2 can use more color, #1 looks done but just planted.

                          I voted for #2. In such small tanks, I think the "less is more" rule applies. Keeping it simple is important. More than 2 or three species (and colors) of plants (and fish) is going to look cluttered in a very short time, IMO. Ditto for the scape. You want something complementary, not contrasting. Like I said, just my opinion. :)

                            well me and brian pretty much figured mine would win just because i had more done to it. however, seems like im losing big time hahahaha all in good fun :d keep the votes and comments coming guys :P
