  • Crypt Wendtii Fowering?

Hey guys. Just wanted to share with you what I think may be a flower on my crypt wendtii. I have kinda been neglecting the tank because I have been really busy as of late, but I noticed it this morning. This is the first time I see this in my tank for I am pretty happy. A couple of my anubias have also shoot flowers up in the past month too, so I guess they are happy with the water conditions.

Just so you know the tank is extremely low tech. It is a 29g with no CO2, no excell, no ferts, and and just three of the spiral bulbs(26 watt each i think). It has been up and running for a couple years now and is stocked with community fish(maybe slightly overstocked... but water is always fine).

Just thought it was cool I got a flower on my wendtii(if it is a flower) and thought I would share.

Ill keep and eye on it the next few days and see if it opens up.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

Awesome!! Please keep us updated with pics.

Have you by any chance changed any of the bulbs over the tank or in the room lately?

I actually did change the middle bulb over the tank because it went out about a month and half ago. Interesting that that may have sparked it.

Could be! I ask because several months ago I had an anubias flower that I've had for years and has never flowered before. Then all of the sudden multiple flowers popped up, and it was in direct correlation to my changing out a bulb in the desklamp that was sitting by the tank.

I think you are right, that is 3 flowers i have had in a months and had never had any flowers before. Makes me want to change out the other two bulbs and see what happens!

Don't think that would work. These kind of plants only seem to flower when you don't do much to the tank for a long while and then change out a bulb without any hopes that it will make them flower. ) They're onto you now!

              Seriously, though, congrats!
