I've never used dental floss, but I imagine it would be the same as using thread. Good idea!

I would use thread over dental floss.

dental floss may have chemicals in it.

Plus, thread disappears faster over time.

If you are set on trying it, please do and keep us updated!

Good point, I didn't even think of chemicals. You'd have to be sure to get the unflavored kind.

the fact that the thread disappears makes it an ideal choice IMO

Fish line is something people use too.

I have in the pass on my PTs.

But I still prefer thread. 1) Fish line never disappears 2) it's harder to work with and harder to tie down.

the reason i asked about dental floss is that it is something i will actually use(well at least i'm supposed to,) as opposed to fishing line, thread, string or stuff i have no other use for. So i got unwaxed unflavored floss.

i will let you know if fish start pooping white or their teeth are extra clean.

I don't like using fishing line (monofiliment). Very little give, and does not degrade over time. For moss it is fine but for anubias and ferns it is not. The only time I do use monofiliment is when I am mounting riccia since it never really attaches quite well to the mounting surface.

I do not like the idea of dental floss only because of color. I tend to use green or brown cotton sewing thread depending o what plant I am mounting and the mount itself. Dental floss is usually white and will stand out unless you are really mounting a lot of plants. As long as it is unwaxed and untreated (flavors, ect..) then I think you should be fine.
