  • Anacharis?

I picked up a bunch of anacharis at the auction and now my tanks are dark with it. The plant has either unraveled itself or grown a foot. In my 55, the latter is the case. This stuff is insane!

Does anyone have any experience with this stuff? I just dumped some in my 30 tire track eel tank, my 10g feeder fish tank, and my 55 peacock tank. I have already had to cut it all down!
College = fishless for now. Vicarious living!

As long as it has some decent light it will grow pretty quickly. It can be buried or left floating. It is good to suck up excess nutrients and helps keep water clean and algae at bay. Outside in my pond it grows small white flowers early summer.

Yes, I love this plant too! Just be careful to keep your lighting high. Otherwise, it will start loosing it's leaves (needles) and will mess up your water really quickly. I've had that happen a few times before I finally realized what was going on. Now I keep some in my pond and every other water change or so I'll throw the one from the tank into the pond and bring some new one from the pond in for the tank. This allows the anacharis to periodically go into 'rehab'.
