About 2 cups in volume of this java moss is the only aquatic plant I've ever owned. I got it about two years ago at a fish auction, put it in my fry tank, and slowly watched it turn from green to yellow/brown and fall apart. I had no lighting on the tank, and it was in a shaded room. Now it is a very dull mustard yellow/brown. Recently, I put these remnants in a vase, with fresh non-dechlorinated water, and added some liquid aquatic plant food. I put the vase on the window sill of my brightest window that faces south and gets direct sun all day. Within two days, I had what appeared to be a yellowish algae bloom, but it could just be the java moss disintegrating further; I don't know. On the fourth day, the java moss had gone from resting on the bottom of the vase to floating at the top. It has become so buoyant that some is even sticking out of the water. Is this the beginning of a comeback, or should I put it out of its misery? Any advice appreciated.
