        Awesome! :emt_thumbs:

However, you know you've got it bad when you start turning random see-through containers into aquariums! I'm definitely guilty of that!

Mzungu: I thought it was just me. I had a similar setup that I took down. It was in a 6" glass cube and was running for 2 years.

It says playsand and minerilized top soil.

I believe this allows a slow long time release of nutrients?
              Very cool concept.

Yeah, saw that looking back oops.
Not nessicarly minerilize, just aged potting soil. got to be careful on what potting soil you use, but a genaric no frills should work out great.

I've had this soil "aging" outside for about a year. I made a mistake by putting in too much water on the soil layer before I capped it off with sand. No I have to siphon the debris it kicked up.

The NPT bug has bit me!

:) You should really talk to Dave. he knows NPT in and out. I think it is perfect for these smaller systems.

                      Too funny, and SO true!!

Very cool mini you've got there. Yeah, I think the NPT is a great method for these types of set-ups.

Oh, and a little trick when you put too much water on the soil before capping it....paper towels to blot it dry works great. Just soak up the excess water (yes, it can take some time) and then you can cap without any "floaties". :)
