I recently got a new tank that I'm going to instahl in the wall as you enter my office. The deems are 58X22X34 and I was thinking of making it a planted tank and I was wondering if I would be able to grow plants in a tank they deep? I have a light with two 250watt halides that I can put on top. What do you guys think

Depends of what you want to grow it's not only light what you need, it's also substrate, ferts and temperature. With 500w of hqi you may need add co2. Filtration is good but you need add 1 or 2 power heads for circulation. A 34" tall should be hard to scape but you can try. Do you have any idea of the scape and fauna that you want. I will go with an Amazonia biotype with angels and tetras or adult discus but all depend of how much maintenance you are thinking to deal with.

Well first on the subject on discus hell no. On the scape that is easily taken care of and I've already got a co2 system. Plants I have not decided what I want to doCustom Aquarium Cabinets Justin Henry 281-739-8723

Need a balance of light, co2, and fert/food. With that intensity of light I would guess a nice amazon tank wth tetras and angels would work as the above said. And some heavy peat in the water would help offset how bright the tank will look.

I would Definatly say yes it will work.
For stocking I like the amazon idea, for angels I would do something rare.
Wc Peruvian scalares, columbian tetras, Sterbai and Orange laser cories, a few pairs of wc dicrostus filamentosus, and a nice pair of dwarf acaras say curviceps.FRENCH FRY!!!

In an almost 3 foot tall tank, your plants will start to suffer near the bottom especially with stem plants. Its simple. Your plants will grow no problem but then light from these plants will block light to your lower plants. A well thought out scape or side supplemental lighting should do the trick. Man, I can't wait to see you scape this one!ADA mini-m planted
