Screename and neuendri thanks a lot for the compliments.
Guys the fern is not that big as the tank is only a 10G.
Specs:
10G walmart tank
Topfin HOB filter rated for 10G
regular walmart yellow gravel and some white sand kind of stuff which got in there by mistake.
15W GE 9825K bulb in a regular florescent fixture

Plants:
Java Fern
Anubias Nana
Cryptocoryne Wenditt

Tank layout is about 11 months old. I just top off the evaporated water every few days.

That's gotta be trick lighting or something that tank looks like a 29g tank.

It is heavily stocked . If i mentioned the numbers everyone will pounce on me. But i feel it just balances out ever need of Co2 and Ferts.
It has a Glowlight tetras, scissor tails, ottos, Kulhiis, Corys and Amano shrimps.

Left side is dk green java fern or big brother species
                lt green  Amazon Sword with some red cripts around the base
behind the 3' long driftwood is short val just starting to reach the surface
in front of the driftwood is a lot of small annubis
right end is some small moneywort ?? cuttings just starting to take off.

The fern I got at the HLA auction
The val I got at the last HAS auction
the annubis I have collected from several sources &
the moneywort clippings I got from GuppyMax

currentlly home to
8 small marble angels
6 red & blue tetras
4 red eye tetras
3 albino plecos
orange stripe pleco
2 spotted corries
all from local auctions
(and a whole bunch of MTS)

Lt fixture is 48" Coralife, no heater, Houston tap water
and across the top in back you can see 2 dual HOB filters
substrate is (sandblasting sand) plain gravel that I have used for forever but I have been addin Pro-Plant growth accelerator ( 1% Nitrogen)

Here's my old 75 with my glosso mat.


the discus love to hang around the grass.


CRS tank... the moss is kinda unsightly.


but it's what's inside that counts. :wink:

Glosso spreads pretty easily but it will turn to a stem like plant without good lighting.

Got about 10 CRS and 10 Bees. I was quite surprised when these arrive. I ordered A's and i got S's. Even 1 or 2 Hino's.
I'm just starting to see berried females, so things are lookin good

Under the right conditions, High light and Co2 suppliment, the stuff grows like weed. I planted a few small clumps and it just exploded.

I agree with eklikewhoa. Under low lighting, it starts growing upward instead of horizontally.  But I also want to throw in a bit of caution. Under strong light and good Co2, it will take over the tank, so it needs constant cutting back to keep the mat looking good and not spread too wildly.
