my briggitae dont really school so much as they hang out in the same place. they are getting better now that i removed the CPD from their aquarium yesterday.
i dont think i ever seen RMT at LFS...

yeh im actually thinking of selling my briggitaes now too.

    • Aquarium world has RNT but they are on RO water and you need to bring in a test sample of your water before they will sell them to you. HAW has some nice ones too, and on city water. The ones I bought originated from HAW.

i might be interested in the chilis, they dont school like i wanted but i still like them and i am down to 16. i thought that i had lost most of them but they were hiding in the presence of the CPD.

you told me fishland and somehow fishranch got into my head. were they really amanos? i ask because i went two places, including fish ranch, on friday because they said that they had amanos that actually turned out to be listed as "algae eating shrimp". they were definately not amanos and i suspect that anyone selling them for 2 bucks may have these instead. i got the last six from murray and churty at HAW (thanks guys!) and then lost power in the storm friday night around two in the morning until 9 saturday. i dont think that they made it with all that stress, the water was really cold in the tank. i did buy another 5 at the GHAC meeting though and they are adapting well. now that they have little things like heat and filtration. i will look for more at the end of this week if these guys continue to get along well. the rams immediately checked them out but want nothing to do with em after seeing how big they are...btw HAW sells them for 4 bucks but they are HUGE and worth the price

      • im running RO water along with tap because of my crystal shrimps.

yeh i have like around 20 or so i think and theres like 3-4 more hiding inside the rocks and i cant get to them without disturbing the substrate and everything else.

hmm thats what fishland labeled them as...
how do u even tell the difference?

        • the ones i saw had really sharp pointy rostrums and no markings on their sides. the feelers also werent very long. something about the eyes too. they just didnt look "right" and the store personnel couldnt absolutely verify that they were c.multidentata

the amanos i am used too usually have spots along the flanks, big black eyes, more rounded rostrum, and long primary feelers. the ones from HAW and the GHAC auction immediately struck me as being "right" looking. I was told that there is a florida wholesaler that is cross breeding glass shrimp with "something else" and selling them as algae eating shrimp but they are not nearly as good algae eaters nor long lived.

btw, grab a copy of amazonas magazine from B&N..this month is devoted to dwarf shrimps. interestingly many of the euro breeders are not using overly soft water. i think that i may try to bring my white pearls up to tap water conditioning

My exp with them, amanos will out compete dwarf shrimp for food and at times go after or bully
