i just replaces an internal filter with a removeable cover around the bottom mounted impellor. i but filter floss in that cavity but i still lost one shrimp when her leg got stuck in the grille. i then but a small biomedia bag over the outside and the floss supported it from the inside. that worked well. i have also bought the coarse blue filter sleeve from a magnum 350 filter and wrapped it around the internal filter body when i had paludariums, you can cut it if need be75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish
